Every impossible unlikely dream I had for myself came to pass. Okay...not ‘every’...more like ‘a lot’. I am forever dreaming. Even if you don’t know the ‘how’, still know that your dreams are possible. Stick with me through yet another plant metaphor; many life lessons can be gleaned from gardening.
Think of your dreams as seeds. What are some characteristics of seeds? They start small and maybe delicate. Seeds need fertile soil, water, sunlight, and care. You need to pull the weeds. Some seeds take a very long time to grow into plants and some grow quickly. Let’s go on a journey. As a little girl/boy you woke up one morning with one thought...you were going to university. Not a big deal, right? Well...what if no one in your family ever went to university? What if you weren’t the smartest kid in your class? What if you couldn’t afford to go? What if nobody believed in you? Many would call or think you a fool, and tell you to have more realistic dreams. I’m telling you that your dreams are possible and should be as big as the sky. Take care of your dream (seed), nurture that thought, and surround yourself with people who believe in you and are willing to help you fulfill your dream (soil, water, sunlight).
Now consider what happens if you don’t take care of the seed? It dies. So my darlings...Ignore the dream killers (weeds) e.g negative people, drugs, unprotected sex, too much television, and social media (you can fill in the blanks). Furthermore, it is wise to protect your dreams by being selective with who you tell.
When people tell you all the reasons your dreams and ambitions are impossible; write all the reasons why they are possible. What are some of your dreams? I would love to hear from you.
